#FBFF

It is Friend Friday again here at Fashion RECON and on a number of other blogs. This week's topic concerns how to deal with shameless self-promotion from others.

1. Guest posts are a good way to gain new exposure. What do you think
is the appropriate way to go about securing a guest spot?

Well - I have never been a guest poster so I can't speak from experience, but I think posting good original content on your own blog and becoming part of the community will gain you exposure. If you have connected with others and they like your style - you may get an invite.
2. Leaving comments is essential to growing your blog. But how can you
leave a comment without coming across as ‘Follow Me. Follow Me!’?

That is easy - visit other blogs and BE REAL! Be sincere. "Great outfit, checkout my blog" is not a sincere comment.
3. We’ve all gotten a mass email at one time or another asking for
blog exposure, a link exchange, etc… But the mass emails don’t work.
How do you make your email stand out from the crowd?

I don't do this - maybe I am missing out.

4. In interacting with other bloggers where do you draw the line
between seeking support and begging for exposure?

I don't really outright seek support but as you move through the blogging world and make friends, by supporting and promoting others > they will in turn support you. If you want to have a friend, be one. Transparent attempts at friendship are  bound to fail.
5. What’s one rule of engagement error you made and how have you
remedied that?

When I first started in the blog world I saw the "follow me, follow you" thing happening and started to participate. I read an IFB article very soon after and immediately stopped when I found out how rude it is considered. If I receive those types of comments I ignore them or simply reply with "Thanks!"
