Kelsey gushed: Blown away! It has so many extras that you would never thing would come with a straightener! I would never expect all of this - AMAZING!
Rachel said: Includes all the necessities! The cases are great for double protection. Perfect!
MorganT wrote: You get a lot for your money. It's not "just" a straightener. I like that it comes with the velvet bag to hold everything. The flowers and nice little extra things in there are cool.
My Morgan said: Wow! I can't believe it came with all this!
Above is the travel case for the flatiron. I gave the makeup to my Morgan.
Perfect for relaxing. The rosebuds smell really good. At first I thought they were supposed to go in your lingerie drawer like a sachet. Then I realized what they were after I put them in my car and a water bottle sweated on them. Hello!
Morgan absconded with the sleep mask and is loving it.
Above: I thought it was really cool that the emery boards had the little chains so they can be attached inside one's handbag. I am forever digging for mine so this solves that problem, except I gave them to the girls. I really like the Shine Shield. This is a nice product. I was thrilled to find it in the box.
So the packaging is fabulous. Moving on to the review of the flat iron.
How qualified are these kids to comment on a straightener? Very! Their ages are 15 to 16 years old and they love doing themselves up. I don't often use heat products on my hair so they have more exposure to various flat irons than I do. Each of these girls has a different hair type so they made great testers and mine is different from all of their hair as well.
I asked them to rate the flat iron based on usability, effectiveness and quality of product.
Usability:
It was really hot within 3 minutes and ready to go. Rachel preferred a wider iron to the 1.5 inch. The girls and I agreed that it is very light and easy to handle. We all managed to avoid burning ourselves.
Effectiveness:
It worked on every type of hair beautifully without making us feel like we were "killing our hair" to quote the girls. It slides very easily over the hair with no pulling. That part is important to me as I am very sensitive to the feeling like my hair is breaking or being pulled out of my head. It even straightened my hair, which resists being straight, in spite of the humidity.
Quality:
Despite its lightness, the Hanna 1.5 Flat Iron is very sturdy. Temperature control gives a range to choose just the right amount of heat. I went with a mid-range temp of 370F. The controls are easy to use and out of the way so one doesn't accidentally turn it off. The girls really enjoyed using it and loved the shine produced.
Pros:
light, smooth, heats quickly and easy to use.
Cons:
takes a while to cool, possibly addictive
