Summer Shoe Collection

For the final day of shoe month, I bring to you my summer shoe collection. Originally I had planned to show my entire shoe collection, but that turned out to be far too daunting a task. Instead, I decided just the shoes I will be wearing for summer is enough.
 Fun, colorful shoes!!!

FBFF: Hair Care

This week's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday is all about haircare. Afterall, a bad hair day can destroy the best put together look. I identify strongly with Samson even though it probably should be Delilah.
1. How often do you get your hair cut?
Maybe once or twice a year, that is it. I am trying to grow it all out really long. If I keep cutting it, it won't get any longer.
My ends are thin but that is not the fault of my stylist. I won't let her cut but so much at once > otherwise I hyperventilate.  And I think I scare Jo.

Fahrenheit $5

I mentioned in Tuesday's post the shoes I found on sale for $5 on the back wall at LeenaLu's in Carytown. Here are photos of the $5 denim shoe:

Fashion Sisters Take Carytown: Shoe Loving

This past Saturday, Tiffany and I headed to Carytown again and this time we brought my son Aaron along for the ride. He loves clothes and fashion too. He is the perfect male shopping companion. Aaron has great tastes and doesn't mind carrying the shopping bags or taking photos. Of course, he also talks Mom into buying outfits for him as well.
My first priority was to stop off at Need Supply Co to try on the Jeffrey Campbell Benched wedges. The staff in Need Supply was super friendly and helpful.
This shoe is absolutely amazing in my opinion! I wondered how it would feel to have that piece missing from beneath my feet when I saw the photos online of this shoe.

Virginia Renaissance Fair

This weekend we went to the Virginia Renaissance Fair. We went last year also as we just love the vendors, the food and the dressing up. We had a lot of fun and saw some interesting outfits and things for sale. This post will be mostly photos and very little text. At the end I have the photos of the leather corset I purchased.
First up, we watched some of the games on horseback.

FBFF: Blog Pet Peeves

This was inspired by a post by Beautifully Invisible from a couple weeks ago entitled ‘The 10 things that drive me crazy about your blog.’
It is shoe month here so I had to sprinkle in some visuals with the text!

Shoes: A Man's Favorite Shoe

Men do not seem to have all the great options for shoes as women have but I wanted to include a male point of view. My fabulous male blogger friend Arash Mazinani agreed to do a guest post for me on his favourite shoe. I adore the shoe he has selected.

FBFF: Outside Influences…

Outside influences… a couple weeks ago FBFF talked about our inspiration when it comes to blogging and so many people said that other fashion bloggers are a huge inspiration. But there are many other factors that influence us.
1. What magazines do you subscribe to?
I only get Vogue and barely find time to read it! My blog got started because of an outfit inspiration in Vogue's September issue.I do get a lot of catalogs though and those sometimes inspire me.September Vogue Inspiration
2. Do you watch any fashion TV shows?
I watch Project Runway or America's Next Top Model from time to time. I love fashion movies - Like "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and "The Devil Wears Prada"
3. Beyond blogs, what websites do you frequent for fashion inspiration?

There aren't any really. Occasionally I will look at something someone Tweets but generally I only go to blogs.
4. Advertisements play a huge role in forming public opinion about a product or brand… what ads do you like and why?
All I can think of are the Christian Louboutin ads in Vogue but that is because I love his shoes not because the ad is spectacular. However, this Burberry ad inspired a post:

From Fashion RECON
5. Do you own any fashion books?
I must be the worst fashion blogger ever! I own no fashion books but I borrowed one from a friend!!

Community Shoe Closet: Sharing Favorites

As it is Shoe Month on Fashion RECON, I asked some of my favorite bloggers to send me entries of their favorite shoes. I believe the right pair of shoes can make or break an outfit. I have shared with you which pair of shoes I own that are so versatile and make me feel so put together that they have become my favorites.

I was curious about the favorite shoes of others and thought you might be also. The following bloggers have graciously shared their favorites with me to share with you.

My Favorite Shoes

Back in the Fall of 2010, I was shoe shopping and came across a beautiful pair of pewter shoes. Steve Madden by brand, not on sale and an unusual color > I bought them anyway. I wasn't overly sure with what I would wear them, but I was unable to resist them.

FBFF: Shoes

Shoes….
1.What is your go-to pair of shoes?

Most often I find myself in these:

2. What goes into your shoe buying decisions?

How high is the heel? Does it make a statement? How much does it cost?  Is it comfortable? In that exact order of importance.
3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color?
Like most people, I have to say black. Second most is probably red.
4. When it comes to design shoes what are your favorite brands and
why?

Hmmm > Favorites brands I own:

Steve Madden > Affordable, high heel, comfortable
Guess > Beautiful shoes that last in my price point. Always comfortable.
Michael Kors > I love his hardware
Zigi > Edgy designs, nice size heel, affordable and they last.

Now if we are talking Designer, $500 plus shoes:

Christian Louboutin > no explanation required! If you love shoes, you love CL.
Manolo Blahnik > statement shoes, well made, beyond the price tag, what's not to love?

5. If price wasn’t an issue, you’d own which shoe?

Anything Christian Louboutin > but specifically this one:
Is there a woman alive that doesn't fall in love with Louboutins? I love this one too:
The perfect shade of Honeysuckle Pink! Sigh....
I hope one day to afford a Christian Louboutin Pump. My Dream Shoe!!
Happy Friend Friday!!

Spring in the FTF Community

This month the Full Time Fabulous Community is participating in celebrating Spring visually in a post. My favorite parts of Spring are the reawakening of my garden and the color that bursts forth from my closet. Fitting then, that my Spring post incorporates both! As it is Shoe Month on Fashion RECON, I am including those heavily as well.
Mostly my pictures will speak for themselves...

Project Style: The Support of Friends

I want to send out a HUGE "Thank you!!" to all of those who voted for me during Project Style and tolerated with grace my shameless self-promotion.
This would not have been possible for me without the support of dedicated friends willing to sign up with Shoptopia and cast their vote in support of me every day.

Shoe Month on Fashion RECON

I have decided that May is going to be Shoe Month here. May is my birth month. I am a Taurus, an Earth sign with its feet stubbornly and firmly planted on the ground. When I dig in my heels, they must be fabulous!  So this month will be all about SHOES! No boots - just shoes!
As a kickoff, I want to talk about my Twilight Zone experience in the DSW on Sunday.
On the very first day of May, I found myself with nothing interesting to do in the afternoon. I had no blogger motivation. I had just finished a good book. Eat Pray Love is a wonderful book and very interesting. The movie is very good but the book holds so many more treasures than could be revealed in a movie. But I digress....
I decided it would be a good day to haunt my local DSW, a favorite hot spot for me. Fashion Sister Tiffany was laid up with a migraine so I went alone. To ease her pain (or just be a tease) I started looking at clearance shoes in her size and sending her pictures of those I knew she would love.
