Pencil Me In Colorful Floral

I wore this outfit to work one day last week and performed a self-photo shoot right on the sidewalk in the middle of the city. However, I was not brave enough to bring out my tripod. Instead I positioned my camera on the wall that is behind me. It undulates all the length of this particular block. It is a sneaky way to take pictures without being obvious.
This is such a fun outfit, I had to take pictures to share with you. Afterward, I wondered what the people in the building across the street and above me might have been thinking if they happened to look out and see me.

Flower Power of a Thrifted Dress

In May when I went down to Carytown to Second Debut, I found some amazing deals. This dress is one of them. I think I paid a whole $8 for it! I finally wore it to work last week and I think it was a big hit.
Would you believe this dress is marked as a "Large" size dress?? That would not be a problem except I normally wear a small or extra small. I tried it on anyway! The bold print of the flowers drew me from across the room. The ruffled hemline dips down in the back ever so slightly.

Favorite Summer Print

For some reason floral prints are really speaking to me this summer. I found this particular tropical tank at a local thrift store for $3 total! Score! Thrift shopping is my absolute favorite kind of shopping - bar none.
Also, I am wearing my favorite new heels> nude Guess!

FBFF: Favorite Summer Recipe

I have been to Puerto Penasco, Mexico twice and my favorite summer dish hails from the beaches there. People sell Shrimp Cocktail from carts on the beach. It can also be ordered in the restaurants. I adore this style of shrimp cocktail. It is not what Americans normally consider shrimp cocktail > OH NO! It is WAY better than that!

Here in the U.S. when we think shrimp cocktail we think of a dish with cocktail sauce in the center with chilled steamed shrimp around the edges of the dish. Not so in Mexico!

Fashion Finds: Second Debut Dress

When Tiffany and I went to Carytown a couple weeks ago I found some fabulous dresses for summer at prices a girl on a budget is happy to pay. I also found an awesome pair of denim heels for $5 brand new! I was so excited about those I had to post about them first thing as I thought that was the deal of the day. I have since realized that is not the case.

Just let me tell you about this dress!

Bloggerhood of the Traveling Scarf: Kickoff Post

Recently I teamed up with Sweet of Confessions of a Drama Queen and Madison of Fashion Tales to send a scarf around the world. I was in the right place at the right time to suggest a scarf or some such accessory that would be easy to mail and easy to style. I am so excited to be the one to start the scarf off on its journey.
I decided to wrap it around a hat.

Guest Post: Florida Keys Fashion

Completely out of the blue and unsolicited, I received a slideshow presentation from one of my loyal, but mostly silent followers planning to vacation in the Florida Keys. I am so honored that he took the time to put together such a thoughtful and thorough presentation to send to me. He really intended it just for me because he thought I may find it amusing. But I loved it so much I begged his permission to post it which he graciously granted.
Here I share with you Florida Keys Fishing Fashion:

I googled Flats Pirate and could only come up with a bunch of girls in bikinis so I asked my friend to give me a definition and this what he said:
Actually – a better term is   Pirate of the Flats. Heres a video…   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVVA9yT07G0

Basically its someone who loves to fish saltwater flats and someone just feels at home on the flats.
Tom Brokaw explains it pretty good in this video. You know what an Ex Pat  is right???
“Pirates of the Flats” is Show Tom Brokaw put together with ESPN and a whole bunch of other people.

Thank you for this great presentation!
I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did!!
Name withheld to preserve the privacy of my straight male friend composing a fishing fashion post.

FBFF: Vacation Wardrobe

This week's Fashion Beauty Friend Friday is about what we take on vacation since it is now summer here in the US. Last month I began working for a new company so I will not be taking summer vacation days. We might make it out of town for a long weekend at the beach, but that will be it for us this year. Besides, I had an early vacation in Phoenix and Las Vegas back in March.
Here are the questions posed by KatyRose over at ModlyChic.
1. When it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra?

Try not to overpack, try not to overpack > I always do. It never fails.
2. What are your must packs?

Sunscreen! I wear it every day of my life, even when I am just going to be in an office all day in winter. Fluorescent lighting can and will age your skin. I also always bring a light jacket even in summer. Midnight walks on the beach can be chilly with the breeze that comes off the ocean.
3. What are you happy to leave behind?

WORK!! Usually, I leave behind humidity as well.
4. Any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase?

Depends on where I am going. If I pack boots, then I will put clothing inside the shaft of the boots. If it is a summertime trip, I roll my pullover tops and I don't fold my shorts. They lay flat on the bottom. Also, I will try to go with a color theme so everything can be interchangeable to maximize my outfit choices.
5. Beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand?

I usually pick up some random novels at my local thrift store for a $1 and leave them in the hotel when finished.

Puerto Penasco, Mexico

Those two beach chairs are waiting for me to visit again - hopefully soon!
Where are you going on vacation?
Thank you to Katy Rose for hosting FBFF every week and coming up with such interesting topics for all of us to share.

Prada Swings Shift: Meeting Jessica at SGH Short Pump

Jessica of Gezika and I have been Twitter/Blogger friends for several months. Even though we live in the same city, finding the time to meet one another has been a challenge. Last week Jessica sent me a tweet about Kristy Elena of Sunglass Hut's Full time Fabulous challenge to try out the new Prada Swings. I jumped at the invitation!  I recruited my son Aaron to be our photographer.
